About The Position

The Safety Training Professional assists safety management in developing and driving continuous improvement of Groendyke's safety values, missions, and metrics. This role is pivotal in leading safety initiatives across regional terminal locations and requires frequent travel. The position promotes consistent, safe, and efficient work practices, enabling employees to exceed safety and loss prevention goals while effectively performing their duties.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; equivalent job experience may substitute.
  • Class A CDL preferred, with tanker and hazmat endorsements.
  • Experience as a Driver Instructor.
  • Demonstrated vision and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations.
  • Extensive experience in a safety or related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, Geotab, Samsara, Workday, and Smartsheet.
  • Must be able to pass a Pulmonary Function Test and be respirator qualified.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a corporate-wide culture of safety and training.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and conduct driver recertification courses in core safety competencies.
  • Lead safety event debriefings and perform root cause analyses, integrating findings into the safety management process.
  • Conduct training and coaching sessions for driver management to improve safety behaviors and driver reviews.
  • Assist in driver behavioral coaching as needed.
  • Create and edit risk assessments for terminal facilities, journey management routes, and customer locations.
  • Drive continuous improvements in safety performance.
  • Manage safety on-call and emergency response as required.
  • Meet internal and external customer expectations and requirements.
  • Conduct quality inspections, including OSHA inspections, Confined Space, and Fall Protection checks, business reviews, and safety and security reviews.
  • Collaborate with Terminal Leadership teams on safety and training needs.
  • Monitor and audit safety, security, and compliance efforts continuously.
  • Audit training effectiveness and prepare gap analyses.
  • Assist in developing comprehensive safety and training programs.
  • Coordinate and deliver field trainings such as Fall Protection and Confined Space, documenting outcomes with the training department.
  • Lead and mentor Driver Instructors.
  • Guide new employees in specific safety and training improvement areas.
  • Facilitate terminal safety and training meetings.
  • Advise terminals on strategies to reduce and prevent injuries, accidents, and hazardous incidents.
  • Develop safety meeting topics and conduct safety awareness campaigns, creating associated materials.
  • Travel extensively as required to meet job objectives.
  • Complete special project assignments and other duties as assigned.
