About The Position

Bunker Hill Mining is seeking a Safety Training Coordinator to lead the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of site‑wide safety training programs. This role is responsible for ensuring all employees and contractors are properly trained, competent, and compliant with company standards and regulatory requirements, including MSHA. The Safety Training Coordinator is a visible safety leader who partners with Operations, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and HR to embed safety into daily work practices. This position plays a critical role in sustaining a Zero Accident Culture, which is the only acceptable level of achievement.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7+ years of experience in safety related, similar role.
  • MSHA carded trainer for surface, underground and mine rescue (Blue Card) is required.
  • High school diploma or GED; Associates and/or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated safety leadership and commitment to a Zero Accident culture.
  • Proven professional experience developing, delivering, and managing safety training programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in basic emergency management and incident investigations.
  • Experience in mining and processing requirements and MSHA governance.
  • Experience with safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Knowledge of emergency response and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and ability to use a variety of computer software and systems as needed.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and training effectiveness evaluation.
  • Experience with MSHA regulations and mining or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and emergency response.
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to influence leaders and employees across multiple departments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, reach, and/or sit for extended periods, including entire shifts.
  • Regularly walk over uneven, rocky, wet, snowy, icy, muddy, or sloped ground.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds or more consistently and safely.
  • Frequent head, neck, and body movement, including turning and bending.
  • Continuous use of depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • Ability to hear, see, and recognize alarms, voices, hand signals, light signals, and warning odors.
  • Ability to work in hazardous environments, including, but not limited to, extreme temperatures and humidity, moving equipment and mechanical parts, exposure to dust, fumes, gases, liquids, greases, and mists.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to, steel‑toe boots, safety glasses, hard hat, hearing protection, and fall protection.
  • Respirator or self‑rescuer (as applicable).
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate instructions in one‑on‑one and group settings.
  • Shift work and irregular hours may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates and/or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Industrial Hygiene (IH) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage the site safety training strategy and annual training plan.
  • Own and administer all required safety training programs, including:
  • MSHA New Miner and Annual Refresher Training
  • Task training and competency verification
  • New hire and contractor safety orientation
  • Specialized training (confined space, Lockout/Tagout, emergency response, etc.).
  • Design and deliver engaging classroom, field‑based, and hands-on safety training.
  • Ensure training content aligns with company policies, site risk profiles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Track, audit, and report training compliance, completion, and effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation for regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Analyze incident trends and risk assessments to identify training needs and improvement opportunities.
  • Coach supervisors and leaders on effective safety training and adult learning techniques.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to integrate safety training into workforce development.
  • Support MSHA inspections and requests related to training and competency documentation.
  • Promote employee engagement and participation in safety programs and initiatives.
  • Help drive and sustain a Zero Accident Culture and continuous safety performance improvement.
