About The Position

OVERVIEW: Reports directly to the Safety Training Supervisors. Performs classroom and behind the wheel training, to include but not limited to Operator Development Program, remedial training (excluding final drive evaluations), and new equipment familiarization training. Performs duties in compliance with all Transdev safety training policies and procedures and organizes all final driving evaluations to be performed by the Safety Training Supervisors. This position is multi-functional and may rotate in shifts from performing classroom learning to setting up the skills course or assisting in reporting road conditions during inclement weather. The work is often a series of routine and repetitive tasks punctuated with events requiring focus and attention and communicating information quickly to the Safety Training Supervisors to problem solving any potential issues. Information relayed requires clear communications one on one with the Safety Training Supervisor on duty, before any decision came be made. Incumbents must enjoy using their knowledge and skill to help others.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and two years transit related experience and/or training experience.
  • Valid Class B CDL, w/ passenger endorsement. An excellent motor vehicle record must be maintained.
  • Strong communication skills are required, including written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence as well as reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is necessary.
  • Other basic computer skills are required including email and database software programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety/training procedures.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the U.S.).
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

  • College coursework preferred.
  • Bilingual communication skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures new student operators are thoroughly trained in the safe and efficient handling of vehicles and equipment to exceed customer standards.
  • Conduct final road evaluations to assess whether the employee possesses the necessary driving skills required to graduate or continue in their current position.
  • Implement comprehensive safety training programs for all levels of employees, including new hires, ongoing training, and specialized safety course based on our safety trends.
  • Implement training materials to ensure they are current, relevant, and aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Upon direction of supervisor, incorporate various training methods, such as classroom instruction, hands-on practice, e-learning, and simulations.
  • Conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars for employees across all departments.
  • Conduct training activities comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all training sessions, participant progress, and certification statuses.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory bodies and company management.
  • Follow through corrective action plans to mitigate risks and improve safety outcomes.
  • Prepare detailed reports on findings and present them to senior management.
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness and accountability among all employees.
  • Communicate safety policies, updates, and training opportunities to staff through various channels.
  • Ensures that all trainees are trained on routes designated by management.
  • Ensure the completion and accuracy of required training paperwork before turning in to the Safety Training Supervisor for final review.
  • Ensures Operator Development Program (ODP) is properly delivered to include updates when necessary.
  • Performs new equipment familiarization, refresher, and remedial training.
  • Provides employees with expert information on operation of equipment.
  • Performs related work as required.
