About The Position

Berry Companies, Inc. in Wichita, KS is an administrative support group that provides IT, accounting, data processing, payroll, insurance, marketing and financial services to each of its operating divisions. Our nine divisions are engaged in the distribution of Bobcat, Komatsu, Hyster & Yale construction or material handling equipment. The Safety Trainer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive safety training programs for all employees. Responsible for the support of programs and policies that ensure employee safety to reduce accidents, incidents, and losses. Responsibilities Assist with loss prevention programs to reduce and control workplace injuries and hazards. Provide in-person safety training at locations on various safety related topics. Analyze safety data looking for trends and areas of improvement. Identify training needs and work with department resources to develop training materials and presentations. Educate employees on new and upcoming safety issues and regulations Maintain training records for employees. Ensure compliance of all OSHA, state and federal laws concerning safety protection. Stay current on legal changes and safety issues as they relate to the position. Conduct internal store safety inspections. Participate in and conduct inspections and evaluations as directed. Be a resource for locations on all safety related matters. Provide recommendations and resources for improvement on unsatisfactory items. Follow up with stores on safety recommendations and assist with compliance. Support the organizations transportation efforts as it relates to safety and risk. Participate in annual DOT training at locations. Serve as the primary administrator for the companys fleet dash camera system Monitor events and provide training based on driver analytics. Provide guidance and support to employees on safety practices. Supplement the online training as necessary First Aid, CPR, forklift training, air monitoring. All other duties as requested and recommended to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.

Requirements

  • Available for travel between locations on an ongoing basis 50-60%
  • Team oriented individual who works well with associates at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate data to make decisions and offer solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and all other regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as understanding of / willingness to learn Canva, Storyblocks, Dodley, and Camtasia for content creation.
  • Employee is frequently required to stand and walk.
  • The employee occasionally is required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • May frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience directly related to the position.
  • Experience working in an industrial or the construction equipment industry.
  • OSHA Certification and understanding of current regulations, or willingness to get trained immediately.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred, but not required.
