About The Position

As a Safety Technician at Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal, you'll play a vital role in protecting EOD technicians during some of the Navy's most challenging and high-risk training operations. You will manage comprehensive Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs across demolition ranges and outdoor training areas. Working directly with the Command Safety Officer, you will oversee critical safety programs including High-Risk Training Safety, Diving Safety, Explosive Safety compliance, Radiation and Laser Safety, and Hazardous Materials management. Your expertise will ensure that EOD students are trained and master demolition operations, underwater training, and the safe disposal of ordnance. Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with Naval Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs
  • 3+ years of experience with Navy High-Risk Training Safety programs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and the Enterprise Safety Applications Management Systems (ESAMS)
  • Must meet safety-training requirements listed in OPNAV M-5100.23 B0504 c. or equivalent listed in OPNAV M-5100.23 B0606
  • U.S. citizen

Responsibilities

  • Perform safety technician, administration, and logistical support responsibilities supporting the management, oversight, and execution of OSH programs (Hazard Identification and Abatement, Medical Surveillance, High-Risk Training, Diving Safety, Radiation Safety, Laser Safety, Ergonomics, Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection, Weight Handling Equipment/Material Handling Equipment, Traffic and Motorcycle Safety, and Recreational Off-Duty Safety Program) governing NSEOD's training mission
  • Review, agree to, and sign the Naval Safety Command's nondisclosure agreement (corporate and personal)
  • Assist with mishap investigations, perform annual building safety inspections, and conduct Command Safety Indoctrinations with NSEOD staff and students
  • Perform administrative support, including preparing, reviewing, and distributing correspondence, filing and maintaining documents, and updating Safety-related training information in Enterprise Safety Applications Management Systems (ESAMS)
  • Research and submit orders via the Supply Department for NSEOD required equipment, parts, materials, and consumables
  • Research National Stock Numbers and part numbers using illustrated parts breakdowns, technical manuals, publications, schematics, and automated systems (e.g., FEDLOG) to ensure compatibility with current equipment to fill operational requirements
  • Check material availability through the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), General Services Administration (GSA), Naval Supply (NAVSUP), and open market sources
  • Submit material requisition orders using Military Standard Requisitioning and Issue Procedures and non-standard requisitions
