About The Position

If you're committed to upholding high standards, maintaining on-site compliance, and keeping people safe on the job, then you could be the full-time Safety Technician we're looking for at AmeriTrace! Based in Tyler, TX, you'll perform safety audits on jobsites throughout East Texas, including the Dallas area and across to Tyler, Longview, and Marshall, and make sure employees follow all company policies. If you can do that, you'll enjoy: Competitive salary of $50,000 - $60,000/year Health insurance Dental Vision Paid time off (PTO) Dedicated growth opportunities for advancing your career THE DIFFERENCE OUR SAFETY TECHNICIAN MAKES You'll be in the field, traveling to job sites throughout East Texas to audit daily activities and ensure all safety policies are followed. Monitoring work practices and fleet/driver behavior, you'll help prevent accidents, encourage hazard recognition, and drive continuous improvements across our field operations. Our Safety Technicians are responsible for: Field Safety Audits & Near-Miss Reporting Actively engaging with field crews to evaluate safety compliance (PPE, vehicle/equipment condition, traffic control, work zone setup, etc.) Immediately stepping in and providing constructive feedback if you observe unsafe behaviors Reinforcing AmeriTrace culture and expectations Identifying equipment needs and delivering materials Completing and submitting detailed weekly audit reports Properly documenting and analyzing near-miss events to help identify and avoid hazards Verifying the accuracy and thoroughness of incident reports Fleet & Driver Monitoring Monitoring vehicles through the Verizon Connect fleet management system to ensure safe driving practices Documenting violations (speeding, excessive idling, unauthorized vehicle use, etc.), identifying the driver, tracking repeat violations, and notifying supervisors when appropriate Reinforcing safe driving practices and reducing roadway risk exposure Incident Response & Investigation Immediately responding to field incidents and near-miss cases involving employee injuries, vehicle accidents, property damage, and gaseous or electrical line-strike accidents Promptly securing the scene and controlling hazards Supporting employees and supervisors during the initial response Completing fact-finding activities, including taking pictures, recording witness statements, and documenting jobsite/equipment conditions Post‑Accident Employee Care & Documentation Ensuring injured employees receive timely medical treatment Coordinating post-incident substance testing Maintaining accurate chain-of-custody documentation Preparing formal investigation reports, including root-cause analysis, contributing factors, corrective actions, and preventive recommendations New Hire Onboarding & Training Support Educating new employees on safety expectations and protocols (PPE, vehicle use, near-miss reporting, hazard identification, etc.) Reviewing onboarding forms for completion Assisting with new hire readiness evaluations, equipment familiarization, and fleet operations Leadership & Culture Participating in safety meetings and training sessions Supporting fleet inspections, vehicle checks, and field coaching Following up on corrective actions as directed Reinforcing company commitment to injury and damage prevention Inventory & Supply Management Maintaining adequate safety equipment inventory and ensuring field crews have all the resources they need Identifying when stock is running low and proactively ordering more Inspecting equipment for wear and damage and disposing of expired/defective items Coordinating procurement and budgeting operations with leadership ABOUT US Since our company first began in 2018, Ameritrace has been on a mission to provide safe, accurate, and high-quality underground utility location and excavation services.
