Under general supervision, inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Duties include but are not limited to: Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures. Assists in maintaining safety equipment supply and availability. Samples and analyzes for possible exposure to hazards such as chemicals, smoke, fumes, gases, vapors, noise and lighting. Assists in applying safety policies and procedures and in employee safety training. Maintains assigned files and records including material safety data sheets and other paperwork ensuring compliance. May assist with hazardous material programs, assuring all hazardous materials are received, handled, shipped, stored, labeled and disposed of in accordance with company and government regulations. May interface with regulatory agencies.
