About The Position

In this position, the employee will serve as the Safety Tech-Clinic for the Osceola Mill, Osceola Farms and Harvesting, Sugar Farms, Sem-Chi Rice and Agricultural Shops (Osceola AG Shop, Atlantic Shop and Southern Shop) and other assigned locations. The role is responsible for supporting occupational health and safety initiatives, employee wellness, and compliance programs across the company. This position assists in implementing, monitoring, and improving health and safety practices to protect employees and maintain compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. The Safety Tech-Clinic works under the direction of the Sr. Safety Manager and collaborates with internal stakeholders to deliver safe workplace practices, health monitoring, and quality clinical support.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or clinic-based safety roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, and compliance reviews.
  • Experience with safety program administration, recordkeeping, and employee training preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and related regulatory standards.
  • Associate degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Nursing, or a related field required.
  • Must be able to function independently, demonstrate flexibility and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Exercise good judgment and solid thought process.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other management staff.
  • Ability to use technology such as computers, mobile devices and software.
  • Ability to read, analyze and complete reports.
  • Good communication skills - requires the ability to effectively communicate verbally and written. Must be able to coordinate multiple duties of an urgent nature.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively and to get information.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • OSHA or equivalent safety certifications preferred.
  • EMT, LPN, or RN credentials desirable but not required.
  • Bilingual a Plus (Spanish, French Creole).

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt first aid treatment for minor injuries and medical incidents in the site clinic, ensuring appropriate care, documentation, and referrals.
  • Assist in coordinating emergency medical services (EMS), fire rescue or PBSO when necessary.
  • Maintain and inspect first aid kits, AEDs, and other medical supplies.
  • Help develop emergency preparedness and response plans, coordinate annual drills and follow-up evaluations.
  • Conduct workplace inspections to identify and evaluate physical, chemical, and ergonomic hazards; recommend and verify corrective actions.
  • Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, and internal safety regulations and documentation.
  • Participate in and assist with accident and incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and report preparation.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by partnering with employees, supervisors, management, and contractors to identify and address workplace hazards.
  • Keep tracking on Personal Protective Equipment is used in compliance with federal and state regulations, and complying with company policies.
  • Support in the calibration, operation, and maintenance of atmospheric gas detectors for confined spaces (gas detectors).
  • Assist in the implementation of the Hearing Conservation Program, including scheduling and tracking audiometric testing. Adequate usage of hearing protection in the designated working areas.
  • Monitor, collect, analyze, and maintain environmental and health data such as air quality (dust), noise levels, and other environmental hazards.
  • Support the Respiratory Protection Program, including medical evaluation, annual fit testing, training, and respiratory protection equipment inspections.
  • Support injury prevention and wellness programs, including ergonomic assessments and health screenings, and provide support to health campaign programs (vaccination, wellness, blood donation drive).
  • Participate in annual safety training campaigns for different sites (industrial, harvesting and farming). Maintain safety training records.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, safety stand-downs and site-specific training (mobile equipment operation, confined space training, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, etc.).
  • Assist with onboarding safety orientation for new employees.
  • Assist with contractors' safety orientation.
  • Assist in the development of programs, criteria, guidelines and training in order to establish a standardized approach to Medical Surveillances as required by the different regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and maintain a medical records file that meets all regulatory requirements and maintain the same as required.
  • Develop and provide training in First Aid and CPR to FCC personnel. Coordination of training sessions and recordkeeping in a standardized manner will be part of the assigned duties. May be required to move to other FCC sites to provide training.
  • Support the Safety Department training program by providing training in some Safety and Health topics such as Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Blood Borne Pathogens and New Hire Employee Orientation, among others.
  • Programming related activities such as training campaigns, annual policy review(s) and discussions, among others.
  • Any other assignments, objectives or goals assigned by immediate supervisor.
