The Safety Compliance Supervisor contributes to the success of Ryder by ensuring the field locations are functioning safely and in accordance with company policy and procedures, regulatory compliance agencies (OSHA, FTA, PHMSA, and FAA), and local laws and regulations. This position is responsible for managing vendors performance and administrating the delivery of internal safety systems. The position is the primary contact between our system vendors and field operations to ensure the data quality and continuous improvement of the processes. This position is responsible for the supervision, training and development of direct reports. This position is responsible for the auditing compliance process and inquiries, defines appropriate work flows within the department to ensure centralized records and properly maintained, analyzes compliance data, and support the deployment and integration of Safety and environmental improvement programs. This position will collaborate with Legal and HR on all compliance and legal matters.

Responsibilities

  • Manages vendor relationships between the system vendors and field operations.
  • Leads weekly calls with vendors and resolves all escalations and questions.
  • Oversees administration of the internal safety systems.
  • Manages onboarding, scheduling, webinars, and overall process functionality.
  • Manages a team of that is responsible for ensuring driver documentation is compliant, continuous improvement efforts, and compliance reporting processes.
  • Assists Ryder’s business units in the preparation for and conduct of federal and state Department of Transportation audits, inspections and inquiries.
  • Seek to achieve 100% compliance following DOT audits and inspections, resolve all inquiries and comply fully with established company policies and practices.
  • Managing all aspects of Ryder’s compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), Federal Transportation Authority (FTA), Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Canadian Ministry of Transpiration (MOT), and the Canadian National Safety Code and State / Province regulatory requirements.
  • Backs-up change acceleration process supporting advancement of new DOT Compliance Driver Performance Management System.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of Ryder’s policies, procedures, best practices and improvement efforts applicable to all three of Ryder’s transportation companies, Ryder Integrated Logistics, Ryder Truck Rental and Ryder Truck Rental Canada.
  • Provides oversight and conduct audits on Driver Qualification process to maintain quality assurance.
  • Special projects and analysis as requested.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
