The Norfolk, Nebraska location produces powdered and dehydrated meat and poultry products, for use in products such as seasonings, soups, and instant meals.

  • Assumes personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Identify employee safety training needs, develop training materials or outsource as necessary.
  • Identify unsafe work conditions and practices through workplace audits, documenting and taking appropriate action to eliminate these conditions and behaviors.
  • Investigation, record keeping, and follow up regarding all workplace accidents.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as well as other governmental agencies.
  • Work with Workers Compensation carrier to ensure cost effective and appropriate handling of all workers compensation claims.
  • Determine requirements and coordinate supplying appropriate safety equipment and PPE to employees.
  • Maintain all written safety programs.
  • Schedule, prepare and track attendance at monthly safety training sessions.
  • Track safety incentive program.
  • Support all of the company safety rules and work with supervisors and managers to ensure appropriate, consistent disciplinary action is followed for violation of safety rules and policy.
  • Schedule and coordinate required industrial safety testing and monitoring.
  • Lead plant Safety Committee.
  • Participate on companywide safety and training teams.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.
  • Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality or personnel safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • 2 years of experience in workplace safety role.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety compliance and regulatory issues, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
  • Above average presentation and computer skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers/vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in math.
