Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree in related business field with three (3) years of occupational safety experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Proficient at managing data with detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Skilled in written and oral communications.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word or other similar products.
  • Transportation software and Internet resources.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Hazwoper certified preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety meetings and training.
  • Ensure employee qualification files are compliant per DOT regulations and in order.
  • Conduct safety inspections to assure safety; tractor trailers, trailers, cranes, loaders, forklift, pickup trucks, cranes and all equipment; conduct safety inspection of terminal repair shops and yards regularly.
  • Facilitate and/or oversee all new-hire and re-current training of all personnel to comply with DOT, OSHA, DEQ, EPA and company regulations and policies. Also facilitate or assist with the pre-hire screening and processes.
  • Manage reports and investigate workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Conduct/facilitate pre-work (Tailgate) safety meetings.
  • Road test drivers, inspect equipment, monitor adherence of speed limits, PPE, loading and un-loading equipment and securement. Assure safe loading and un-loading procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate with the Safety Coordinator to assure proper operational safety training of all personnel.
  • Provide safety progress and information to management.
  • Stay current with all applicable Codes and Regulations pertaining to safety and ensure compliance (DOT, OSHA, DEQ and EPA) and etc.
  • Assist dispatching, field work, and equipment operation.
  • Carry STOP WORK authority if any safety violations and concerns are observed.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
