Essential Job Summary: The Safety Supervisor is an integral member of the Environmental, Health and Safety team, responsible for ensuring that the company’s Safety Programs are communicated, understood, and carried out at all levels of the organization. This position plays a key role in training and coaching employees and managers in safe workplace practices and compliance with key policies and regulations. The Safety Supervisor travels around our service area to meet with employees, perform safety observations, and respond to accidents and incidents.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in job duties
  • Driver’s license required, CDL preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA and DOT safety requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent communication skills, Spanish bilingual preferred
  • Must have a driver’s license (CDL not required)
  • Must demonstrate strong commitment to safety
  • Must have a satisfactory attendance and performance record
  • Ability to read and write fluently in English required, Spanish is a plus
  • The position requires using computers to communicate, write reports, and analyze data. Basic computer skills are required, training will be provided

Nice To Haves

  • Experience from the transportation industry strongly preferred
  • Spanish bilingual preferred
  • CDL preferred

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of DOT compliance
  • Educate and train employees on how to perform their job safely and efficiently
  • Provide training on safety programs, transportation compliance and SOPs as needed.
  • Monitor training records and/or manage them consistent with existing procedures in conjunction with the corporate training group. Ensure that divisions are keeping employees current.
  • Keep an open line of communication with operations management to report on issues and trends, and recommend corrections including disciplinary actions as needed following training and safety incidents
  • Ensure the job is being performed in a safe and compliant manner by performing site safety audits/ observations, and following up on potential issues to confirm corrective actions have been implemented.
