About The Position

The Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving workplace health and safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable federal, state, and local requirements. This position supports injury prevention, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and a proactive safety culture across all operational areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • OSHA 500/501.
  • 2–5 years of safety experience in manufacturing, construction, industrial, or similar environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and safety audits.
  • Strong communication and training skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Mandarin.
  • OSHA 510 or 511.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or CHST.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 or formal Safety Management Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA (29 CFR 1910 / 1926 as applicable), EPA, and state regulations.
  • Assist with maintaining written safety programs (e.g., LOTO, Hazard Communication, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Powered Industrial Trucks).
  • Conduct regulatory audits and compliance inspections.
  • Record Keeping.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and hazard assessments.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors; recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with development of safe work procedures.
  • Support engineering and administrative controls implementation.
  • Monitor safety compliance for all affected parties.
  • Investigate near miss, injury and property damage incidents.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Assist with workers’ compensation case management.
  • Deliver and coordinate safety training programs.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientations.
  • Maintain training records.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Promote behavioral-based safety initiatives.
  • Conduct routine facility safety inspections.
  • Inspect PPE, fall protection systems, fire protection equipment, and emergency systems.
  • Monitor safety KPIs and leading indicators.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness plans are current and practiced.
  • Support hazardous waste management compliance.
  • Assist with spill response and prevention programs.
  • Monitor industrial hygiene exposures (noise, silica, chemicals).
