About The Position
The Safety Specialist in Rio Grande, NJ will support a large-scale construction project focused on heavy equipment operations and excavation activities. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and USACE EM 385-1-1 safety standards, while promoting a strong safety culture on site. Requirements
- OSHA 30 required
- EM 385-1-1 training required (24-hour minimum; 40-hour preferred)
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Experience supporting construction projects involving excavation, heavy equipment, and sitework

Nice To Haves
- HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred
- OSHA 510 a plus
- Experience on USACE or government projects is highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily safety operations on an active construction site
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 requirements
- Conduct daily safety meetings, audits, and site inspections
- Identify hazards and implement corrective actions in real time
- Support incident investigations and complete required documentation
- Monitor subcontractor safety performance and enforce site standards
- Assist with development and implementation of site-specific safety plans
