About The Position

The Safety Specialist will plan, organize, and supervise the day-to-day operations to identify, evaluate and assess probability and severity of losses. Implement safety programs and communicate to ensure compliance with such programs. This position will ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable regulatory standards which will include minimal environmental responsibilities to support site environmental compliance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, bachelor's degree in safety management or technically related field preferred. Will consider experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experienced practitioner able to work unsupervised; 3-5 years safety responsibility experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be willing to be on call and respond to on-site incidents or accidents outside of normal work hours.
  • Must be able to travel to and work on occasion (minimal) at all MonoSol facilities in Northwest Indiana and Chicago (Chicago, Portage, Duneland, and LaPorte).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with manufacturing principles and processes such as TPM, WCM, Lean, 6-Sigma, and 5S preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and review performance against environmental, health, safety, and security (EHSS) key performance indicators (KPIs) and patterns of behavior within the area of responsibility.
  • Take action to improve performance and to resolve noncompliance with the organization's HSE policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions.
  • Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.
  • Investigate all kinds of incidents and reports and provide expert advice to more senior colleagues.
  • Minimize risk exposures and ensure adherence with regulatory standards by working with all internal functions to make sure compliance programs are properly implemented.
  • Execute a communications plan within established internal communication systems and procedures.
  • Support a global, company-wide document management system and ensure compliance with it.
  • Manage a portfolio of audit assignments.
  • Ensure that the team plans and delivers audits that cover identified risk areas, and that appropriate corrective actions are agreed on with auditees.
  • Resolve issues arising from audits and refer serious or contentious issues to the audit program leader.
  • Prepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports.
  • Deliver training courses or programs, engaging, advising, and guiding learners and evaluating the achievement of intended learning outcomes.
