About The Position

The successful candidate must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to perform effectively at all levels of the organization, while growing the skills necessary for future opportunities. An expectation of the role is to provide strategic focus in all areas to ensure US Segment Safety efforts drive toward the three strategic pillars of the Safety Strategy (Enabled Environment, Empowered People, Fit for Purpose Systems). This role will report to the Senior Safety Manager and Metallurgical Complex VP GM and will be based in Columbus at the Metallurgical Complex. Responsibilities of the incumbent in this role include but are not limited to: Providing leadership and mentoring to develop safety and health program for the Metallurgical Complex Providing guidance and technical support to Metallurgical Complex staff and employees Maintain regulatory compliance and interface with regulatory agencies at a local level Responsible for the ongoing development and supervision of the company's safety function at the mine site. Promoting continual improvement of Safety System, ISO 45001 certification and on-going documentation thereof

Requirements

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with multiple departments and facilities
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and plan activities in a professional and expedient manner
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge and understanding of 29 CFR 1910
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Risk Management principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, helping to balance priorities
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent and/or a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience at base metal refinery / processing facility / or mine required
  • Leadership qualities including character, teamwork, communication, business sense and vision
  • Experience using SharePoint, Microsoft Programs
  • Experience working with and interpreting Safety statistics using a safety database
  • Knowledge of ISO process

Responsibilities
