The Safety Specialist I will report to the EHS Director or the EHS Manager and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS systems.

Requirements

  • 0-5 years of environmental health and safety experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Must have experience working in a team environment, leading teams to meet/exceed goals.
  • Strong organizational & time management skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day.
  • Ability to perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, lifting up-to 50 lbs.
  • Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Educate, communicate and enforce KCC environmental, health, and safety policies/procedures.
  • Participate in the development of short and long-term EHS goals.
  • Present training modules to small and large groups.
  • Participate in safety committees to drive shop floor safety presence.
  • Facilitate root cause investigations for all reported incidents, no matter how minor, in unison with shop floor leadership.
  • Complete all required inspections and drive closure to findings.
  • Complete site hazard analysis through the JSA program.
  • Assist with proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
  • Develop relationships with professional organizations and vendors.
  • Participate in government agency inspections.
  • Work off shift hours and respond to calls when needed.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the EHS Director or EHS Manager.
