About The Position

Job Summary: At Centrus Energy, safety isn’t just a box we check—it’s the foundation of everything we do. As a Safety Specialist, you’ll be the everyday champion of safe practices, ensuring our people, contractors, and facilities operate in compliance with industrial safety standards. Whether you’re training teams, reviewing job hazards, or stepping in with “stop work” authority when needed, you’ll be the trusted guide who helps us keep safety first, always. What you will Do: In this role, you’ll partner with plant personnel and contractors to spot, evaluate, and control workplace hazards. You’ll lead safety trainings, guide pre-job briefs, and review work procedures to make sure industrial safety requirements are baked into everything we do. From job hazard analyses and accident investigations to injury reporting and compliance checks, you’ll be hands-on in shaping a culture of safety. With full authority to hit pause when risks arise, you’ll be both protector and problem-solver—helping us maintain a safe, healthy, and efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” level security clearance
  • An associate degree in Industrial/Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of safety experience
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a “Q” Clearance
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • This position will require a pre­-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • A B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health (or related field) with 6+ years of experience
  • Background in Industrial Hygiene discipline
  • A proactive approach to identifying risks and creating practical, people-first solutions
  • Strong communication skills to train, influence, and inspire teams to live safety every day
  • Currently holding an active Q-level security clearance
