About The Position

LCRA is looking for a Senior Transmission Safety Specialist to join our team! As a part of the Safety Services Group, you will work with the Transmission Operations team to provide continuous improvements in safety through acting as a liaison between field workers, management, contractors, and our customers. You are an ideal candidate for this role if you can act as an advocate for the Safety Services Transmission Group while possessing the ability to integrate safety knowledge and practices into the daily work of LCRA employees. Requirements

  • Nine or more years of experience in safety and health, utility safety to include water, gas operations, energy generation, electric utility transmission and distribution operations or other relevant experience.
  • Experience must include at least three years of direct safety team experience within an organization to include experience with administration, oversight providing guidance, leadership or instruction to operational staff.
  • Experience must include at least three years of experience with ANSI, OSHA 1910/1926.269, IEEE C95.6-2002, DOT standards and applicable work practices and safety policies.
  • A degree(s) in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, occupational safety and health, public health or related field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of direct utility experience in addition to the required educational requirements, as a utility crew leader or utility supervisor.
  • A safety certification from an industry-recognized association.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety consultation and serve as a safety and health resource for LCRA staff. Provide guidance regarding worker's compensation reporting and other safety reports.
  • Develop, coordinate and conduct safety orientations, safety training, health training, monthly/quarterly safety meetings and safety and health inspections. Maintain training records.
  • Lead and perform complex incident investigations, including documentation, tracking and reporting. May assist with LCRA investigations of large-scale incidents.
  • Review and analyze trends and deviations from LCRA policy. Prepare reports and makes recommendations regarding corrective actions.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards and regulations and make recommendations regarding the adoption and implementation of new policies and its inclusion in internal safety manuals.
  • Perform work by traveling independently or with other staff to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, etc.) as scheduled.
