About The Position

The Safety Specialist, Mine Safety/Health position is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of mining operations in Nevada. This role involves conducting inspections, investigating accidents, providing training, and offering technical assistance to mine operators. The position requires a high degree of independence and expertise in mine safety regulations and practices.

Requirements

  • Five years of technical, operational, or management experience in mines, mills, beneficiation plants, or smelters, with at least one year of underground experience.
  • A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with safety regulations specific to mining operations.
  • Knowledge of Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) Chapter 512.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety and health inspections at mines, mills, quarries, and related facilities.

  • Offer technical assistance and consultation to mine operators regarding safety compliance.
  • Utilize personal vehicle to conduct state business as required.
