About The Position

About the Role: Independently executes regulatory compliance testing programs covering Safety & Soundness regulations, Resolution Planning and Wealth Management programs, including fiduciary and non-fiduciary trust operations and the sale of Non Deposit Investment Products. Assists Management with the development of testing plans appropriate to the size, complexity, and risk appetite of the Bank. Possesses requisite subject matter expertise to conduct essential functions. Participates in management committees and working groups to ensure applicable compliance consideration and accommodations are made during product and process development and implementation. Identifies compliance control gaps and leverages the Risk Management Standards to achieve remediation and facilitate governance and oversight. Develops peer and industry network and other internal and external resources to augment awareness of expected regulatory performance, industry best practices, and increasing knowledge. Relative to and in keeping with all tenets of the Consumer Protection Laws and other Regulations applicable to the Bank: Knowledge in areas of finance, accounting, lending, banking operations or related fields. Conducts risk assessments, monitoring, control testing, issue identification and remediation, and reporting, maintaining work papers and appropriate documentation for downstream audit and examination. Lead and/or collaborate in overseeing moderate to complex compliance reviews/advisory projects in a comprehensive timely manner consistent with Compliance Management System program framework. Interest in coaching, mentoring and developing peers. Develops and delivers reporting content for Manager’s review and input into management and board reporting. Develops (documents) and implements Risk Management Standards relative to programs within span of control. Inputs compliance corporate risk issues into Integrated Risk Management solution following standards, and tracks through to remediation, updating statuses in a timely manner, and ensuring proper documentary evidence of remediation. Develops compliance training content, ensuring appropriateness for the size and scope of the Bank. Works with first line to assign bank-wide training assignments for designated areas. Engages with the Bank’s regulatory agencies during the course of examinations, ensuring transparency and cooperation and assists first line throughout the examination process. Develops internal and external network to remain apprised of regulatory expectations and industry best practices. Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes. Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training. Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description. May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert. Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Columbia corporate culture in all actions and words. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or relevant field. Alternatively, completion of banking school(s), certification programs, or equivalent on the job experience.
  • Required Compliance professional with core competencies that promotes a strong risk management environment demonstrates sound decision-making through strong analytical, strategic thinking with ethical integrity to promote successful outcomes.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete work that is required within a deadline.
  • Ability to organize, analyze and interpret data to make recommendations compatible with Bank standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to a wide variety of constituents.
  • Research, analytical, and problem solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • High-level understanding of consumer protection regulations and related business complexities.
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.

  • Preferred 5 years of cumulative banking, compliance, risk management, and/ or audit experience.
