About The Position

The Safety Screening Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of an educational environment by screening personal items and operating metal detectors. This part-time, contract position requires a commitment to maintaining a secure atmosphere while providing assistance to students, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience with TSA, security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred but not required.
• Ability to stand for 3 hours at a time inside an educational facility.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
• Must successfully pass a background check and any additional school mandated screening.
• Must successfully submit and pass RX screening.
• Ability to stay calm and make decisions under pressure.
• Strong commitment to creating a positive and safe environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in security or law enforcement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate walk-through and handheld metal detectors to screen individuals entering the premises.
• Inspect backpacks, bags, and other personal belongings for prohibited items.
• Monitor entrances and exits to ensure secure access to the facility.
• Enforce school safety policies and procedures in a respectful manner.
• Maintain detailed logs of confiscated items.
• Collaborate with school administration, law enforcement, and other security personnel to address safety protocols.
• Provide guidance and assistance to students, staff, and visitors during the screening process.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe and supportive school environment.
