About The Position

The Safety & Risk Assessment Manager ensures a secure and compliant environment by integrating safety management with enterprise risk strategies. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding people, property, and reputation while supporting organizational growth and resilience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Risk Management, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years in safety or risk management roles.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification (required within 6 months).
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, ADA, and regulatory compliance.
  • Must possess valid Minnesota Driver’s License. (Applicants with an out of state license must obtain a Minnesota license within 30 days of hire.)

  • Strong organizational and reporting skills.

Nice To Haves

  • ARM, CRM, or CPCU certifications (preferred).
  • Experience in hospitality, casino, or tribally owned operations (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain OSHA-compliant safety programs and Tribal Code adherence.
  • Conduct monthly safety audits and hazard assessments.
  • Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and track closure within defined timelines.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, incident reports, and other safety records.
  • Coordinate emergency drills and employee safety training.
  • Support the workers’ compensation process, ensuring timely reporting, claims tracking, and modified work duty programs.
  • Identify and evaluate enterprise-wide risks, including financial, operational, and reputational exposures.
  • Participate with management in discussions about insurance programs, including property, liability, workers’ compensation, cyber, and vehicle coverage.
  • Participate, at management’s request, in discussions with carriers, brokers, and legal counsel for claims and coverage.
  • Analyze trends and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Help, at management’s request, in review of contracts and vendor agreements for proper risk transfer and insurance requirements.
  • Prepare quarterly risk reports and annual summaries for executive leadership and Tribal Council.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable regulatory standards, insurance laws, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
