Responsible for the implementation and administration of group compliance with all applicable state and federal agencies, including but not limited to the DOT and OSHA regulations to provide a safe and healthy environment for employees and the public.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in similar role in transportation or supply chain related industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications and ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to utilize databases and systems to review and verify documentation and information.
  • Capable of communicating and interacting effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.
  • Understanding of providers, carriers and services in related supply chain environments.
  • Ability to produce results in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and operate in both a team and individual contributor environment.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the education and motivation of staff to follow safe work practices and maintain a safe working environment through training, presentations and the distribution of safety materials.
  • Implement and administer safety programs for all departments throughout the component including contractor certifications, safety orientations and training.
  • Prepare records, various reports, and make recommendations to management for action and/or correction.
  • Assist staff during office hours, on the telephone and in person by responding to inquiries using independent judgment, discretion and tact.
  • Maintain accurate records and files and prepare periodic and special reports.
  • Aid in assessing the applicability of federal DOT requirements and other road safety rules and regulations, the applicability of state OSHA requirements and other occupational health and safety rules and regulations and the applicability of TSA requirements and other security rules and regulations.
  • Make recommendations to appropriate management regarding policies and procedures and implement following approval to ensure compliance.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and safety complaints and alert appropriate Management.
  • Based on regulations and policies and procedures, act as a resource for operating department managers and supervisors with regard to safety, health, environmental, licensing and permitting and select maintenance issues.
  • Assist in the interpretation of statutory requirements and evaluation and modification of loss control program components to ensure compliance with industry standards and legislative mandates established by general law.
  • Interview and confer with contractors and employees regarding safety issues and problems.
  • Act as liaison with contract and vending companies in overseeing the work of contractors and vendors providing safety services and equipment for the facility.
  • Provide support in the estimation of costs and effectiveness of various safety and maintenance programs.
