About The Position

The Safety Program Manager is responsible for supporting, managing and providing oversight to the Safety team and their assigned projects, ensuring field staff have the resources and training needed to perform effectively. This role leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality control procedures, specifications, building codes, and safety regulations. The Safety Program Manager also advises the Director of Field Operations on site policies and strategic initiatives, while supporting training, performance management, staffing, and resource and budget planning to drive excellence across field operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in construction management, occupational safety, engineering, or a related field AND 15+ years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience directly or indirectly supervising staff with increasing responsibility.
  • Progressive construction experience in a leadership capacity on large or complex projects.
  • OSHA 500 required.
  • OSHA-30 certification required.
  • Proven ability to provide program-level oversight and guidance across multiple projects, ensuring consistent application of Safety standards.
  • Expertise in construction processes, plans/specifications, and contracts.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in construction technology platforms, field documentation tools, and data-driven reporting to monitor quality and safety performance at the program level.
  • Demonstrated leadership in fostering a culture of quality, safety, and inclusion, while driving continuous improvement across field operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
  • Anticipates emotional dynamics in teams and adapts communication style to maintain collaboration and trust.
  • Models emotionally intelligent behavior and mentors others in managing interpersonal challenges and team morale.
  • Actively participates in Immersive EQ program to improve lowest domain.
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and stairs.
  • Exposure to all outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, precipitation, and wind.
  • Use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Exposure to confined spaces as part of job site conditions.
  • Exposure to high noise levels typical of job sites.

Nice To Haves

  • USACE CQM certification preferred.
  • Experience in ProjectSight, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight to assigned safety team members.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource by leveraging deep knowledge of GBA Builders safety program to support training, resolve complex issues, and uphold company standards.
  • Ensure Safety programs remain compliant with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, and advise leadership on emerging requirements.
  • Manage staff communication and planning by clearly communicating job expectations, aligning on performance, and assisting field teams with project setup, logistics, and planning.
  • Partner with preconstruction teams to develop and integrate project-specific Safety, and Environmental plans, ensuring early alignment with company standards and client expectations through execution.
  • Review project specifications and plans to identify Safety and Environmental risks, ensuring issues are addressed prior to project execution.
  • Oversee field staff by forecasting needs, maintaining SOPs, and aligning assignments with project requirements, and providing ongoing support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the Director of Field Operations by overseeing talent-related responsibilities and monitoring projects at a high level to ensure cross-functional alignment and keep senior leadership informed.
  • Coordinate training and professional development opportunities for field staff and conduct bi-annual Building Your Career (BYC) reviews with assigned team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
