About The Position

This position is 1 hour per day (Hours may vary) 185 Days/Year, located in Wright, WY SAFETY PATROL Purpose Statement: The job of Safety Patrol is done for the purpose/s of assisting students crossing at busy roadways to and from school in safe and orderly manner; and communicating observations and/or incidents that may impact the general well being of students. This job reports to Supervisor of Transportation. Essential Functions Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students, personnel and visitors for the purpose of ensuring their understanding and the potential consequences of violation. Directs students daily for the purpose of ensuring that students understand the rules of crossing the road. Prepares written materials (e.g. student reports, time sheets, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information. Reports observations and/or traffic violators that endanger students crossing for the purpose of communicating information for follow up by appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel. Stops students at intersections for the purpose of providing safe access to and from school. Stops traffic as necessary for the purpose of providing right away and ensuring the safety of students and other pedestrians. Other Functions Assists other personnel, as may be required, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Attends meetings and training sessions as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications SKILLS are required to perform single, non-technical tasks using existing skills. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: preparing and maintaining accurate records; and work with traffic during peak traffic periods around school. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: safety practices and procedures. ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. In working with others, Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; and meeting deadlines and schedules. Responsibility Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; providing information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 30% walking, and 60% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and a generally hazard free environment. Experience Job related experience is desired. Education High School diploma or equivalent.
