About The Position

The Role Accountable for providing Workplace Safety technical and regulatory advice, mentoring, instructing and coaching for the buildings Wallace, BCDC, Warranty (Mockup) and other facilities involved in large construction projects. Responsible for assisting site leadership with maintaining compliance with all GM Workplace Safety and regulatory requirements Responsible for analyzing safety data to find trends and identify continuous improvement opportunities Act as the champion for the GTC Chemical Control Committee and PS24. Support the champions of Confined Space and Fall Hazards in implementing safety requirements Assess site’s performance and conformance to requirements, ensuring a safe and inclusive work environment Lead the Workplace Safety System Common Programs for Enterprise Operations and serve as the primary contact for governance changes affecting Enterprise Operations. Develop and maintain a common annual evaluation tool What You’ll Do (Job Responsibilities) Collaborate with local site leadership to foster a culture of Workplace Safety. Coach and develop site employees to promote safety initiatives. Build partnerships with key personnel, including Enterprise Operations Leadership, Human Resources, Industrial Hygiene, and Health Services. Assist in investigating accidents and injuries. Create safety programs aimed at reducing injuries. Engage with local union representatives to address safety concerns. Support the administration of site safety rules and guidelines. Review new equipment and methods for potential hazards. Analyze safety statistics and provide actionable recommendations. Aid in the safety training of employees. Attend safety-related meetings and participate in safety committees to provide support. Manage and enhance the site’s safety SharePoint site by keeping content current and implementing new initiatives. Deliver professional presentations effectively.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a Safety or Environmental field
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required or e quivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or Industrial Environmental Health preferred
  • Experience with OSHA and MIOSHA standards
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work to plan
  • Well developed analytical, organizational, and project management skills
