The Prescott Campus Safety & Security Department is seeking dedicated and professional Armed Officers to join our team. As front-line representatives of the department, Armed Officers play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for the campus community. This position is responsible for life safety, emergency response, and the protection of university assets, facilities, and property.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Department of Public Safety unarmed and armed guard cards.
  • Meet departmental standards for physical fitness, firearms qualification, and defensive tactics proficiency
  • High school (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition, and math
  • 1 - 3 years required of related work experience
  • Required licenses, certificates, and /or security clearances : No felony convictions, must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s license, Must meet the University’s standards for approved drivers.
  • Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and Vehicles Procedure 1.17 ) include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence): More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year A major conviction in the last 3 years, including (but not limited to) driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and/or homicide or assault by motor vehicle.
  • AZ DPS unarmed and armed guard cards.
  • CPR/AED
  • Must pass annual department physical fitness assessment and firearms qualification standards.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce university policies and support a secure campus environment.
  • Respond to service calls, including fire, medical, mental health, and critical incidents.
  • Collaborate directly with students, staff, and faculty to build trust and enhance safety.
  • Operate within assigned shifts with flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Support operations in the Communications Center when required.
  • Participate in campus events as part of the department’s community policing philosophy.
