The Opportunity Akido is scaling rapidly across Street Medicine and Enhanced Care Management, and the Nursing Manager plays a critical role in ensuring safe, high-quality clinical care delivery across both field and clinic environments. Reporting to the Medical Director, this role provides clinical leadership and supervision for Medical Assistants, LVNs, and nursing staff supporting patient care across Los Angeles and Bakersfield. The Nursing Manager ensures safe clinical practice, oversees medication and injection workflows, supports laboratory specimen collection, and maintains compliance with scope of practice regulations. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a clinical team at the forefront of care delivery for vulnerable populations served through Akido's programs.

Requirements

  • Active California Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse license (preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in ambulatory care, community health, mobile health, or similar settings (preferred)
  • Experience supervising or training Medical Assistants, LVNs, or clinical staff (preferred)
  • Knowledge of California scope of practice regulations for Medical Assistants and LVNs (preferred)
  • Ability to support teams operating across multiple geographic regions (preferred)
  • Experience working in community health or safety net programs
  • Experience supporting Medi-Cal populations
  • Experience in Street Medicine, homeless health programs, or mobile health environments
  • Familiarity with Enhanced Care Management or CalAIM programs

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Medical Assistants, LVNs, and nursing staff working in field and clinic settings
  • Oversee clinical competencies including medications, injections, laboratory collection, and patient intake procedures
  • Ensure staff operate within California scope of practice requirements
  • Support medication administration, vaccine administration, and injection workflows
  • Oversee laboratory specimen collection including blood draws, specimen handling, labeling, and transport
  • Provide clinical oversight during outreach activities including encampments, shelters, and housing sites
  • Develop and maintain standardized workflows for field-based clinical care
  • Conduct competency assessments and clinical training for new and existing staff
  • Ensure infection control, safety procedures, and clinical protocols are followed during field deployments
  • Partner with Program Managers to coordinate staffing and support field operations
  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff when patient care questions arise
