As Safety Manager, you will provide leadership, direction, and oversight for developing, implementing, and maintaining the policies, programs, and procedures within Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems. You will ensure compliance with ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, OSHA, EPA, DOT, and all health and safety requirements established by regulatory agencies. Your role will be critical in ensuring all internal and external reporting requirements are performed accurately and in a timely manner, fostering a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.

  • Oversee regular safety audits and inspections of the workplace.
  • Collect, maintain, analyze, and distribute plant safety data in accordance with business and site-specific guidance.
  • Provide daily interaction and training with all employees to promote safety programs and accident prevention, offering safety expertise and guidance to site operational teams as needed.
  • Develop, implement, and administer the Personal Protective Equipment Program.
  • Assist in workplace risk assessments regarding standard work and PPE use and procurement, process, equipment, and non-routine tasks.
  • Develop and implement effective safety communication plans utilizing various multimedia methods.
  • Lead incident investigations to determine probable root cause and develop corrective actions.
  • Support annual regulatory assessments by ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulators.
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Eight to ten years in manufacturing with emphasis on chemical and material handling safety.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001 systems.
  • Experience in state and federal OSHA regulations as well as other regulatory standards (i.e. ANSI, NIOSH, NFPA, NEC).
  • Ability to organize plant-wide safety programs.
  • Incumbent must be a United States citizen, demonstrating suitability for employment in a position of Public Trust consistent with our US Government contract requirements.
  • Professional Safety, Environmental or Industrial Health Certification (Certified Safety Professional, Professional Engineer, CIH).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of documentation procedures and development methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written (technical) communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and foster a compliant / safety-first culture in the workplace.
  • High energy/self-motivated/change agent with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, inside and outside the business unit.
