About The Position

The Safety Manager is responsible for managing, directing, and supervising activities to develop, implement, administer, and promote safety strategies, compliance, and safety improvement efforts. Requirements

  • Minimum High School graduate, with 7-10 years industry field experience and 5 years’ experience leading safety and health activities.
  • Minimum must have completed the OSHA 30 hour in Construction course, OSHA 510 Standards in Construction course, and/or OSHA 511 Standards in General Industry and OSHA 500 and/or 501 Trainer Course. Have the knowledge and experience to obtain a recognized safety certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA, Environmental and DOT regulations.
  • Training in First Aid and CPR. First Aid and CPR Instructor certified is a plus.
  • TWIC Card or the ability to obtain.
  • Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete OSHA 510 Training within three months of accepting this position.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in Occupational Safety and Health (preferred) (either an associate or bachelor’s degree) with 3-5 years’ experience managing safety and health programs.
  • Holds a recognized safety certification CSP, ASP, SMS, CHST, OHST, CSST(NCCER) or equivalent certification. (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, administers, and updates current company safety programs and portals (e.g., ISNetWorld, Browz, MICC, etc.).
  • Conducts regular safety meetings for employees as management requires.
  • Conducts safety educational programs for employees.
  • Understands ongoing development of safe operation practices for shop and field equipment.
  • Conducts regular compliance inspections by routinely reviewing safety practices and potential hazards in each work area throughout the fleet; may include visits to jobsites to ensure proper safety practices are being followed.
  • Manages health and safety of employees to continuously improve the company's health and safety performance.
  • Investigates, assists, and reviews all injuries, accidents, and near misses.
  • Keeps current in governmental rules and regulations for occupational health and safety, as well as environmental regulations; attends safety-related seminars, training, or other relevant programs to increase knowledge and stays abreast of changes in rules and regulations as approved.
  • Acts as a resource for the management team - providing instruction, educational materials, information, research, and assistance with the implementation of the Company’s safety program and environmental compliance initiatives.
  • Establishes and maintains an accurate record keeping of safety compliance and employee training.
  • Reviews safety programs of all subcontractors.
  • Monitors all hazardous waste disposal and related government reporting.
  • Oversees truck and vehicle safety; ensures 100% compliance with DOT Program and requirements.
  • Conducts new hire safety training and orientation.
  • Assists Regional Managers, as requested, with all AES and customer-specific jobsite safety requirements, including pre-project safety reviews.
  • Obtains and ensures any necessary warning signs and safety posters are appropriately posted.
  • Establishes procedures for handling safety complaints from employees.
  • Prepares safety letters and safety bulletins for all employees.
  • Ensures all regions are current with Company and customer-mandated drug testing program, as well as OSHA, Fitness for Duty, first aid, and other training that may be required to support the Company's operations.
  • Ensures monthly inspections of all safety-related equipment (i.e., air monitors, safety harnesses, hardhats, etc.) are performed; documents any safety-related calibrated equipment in accordance with applicable AES QA procedures.
  • Conducts quarterly vehicle inspections and ensures that all titles, tags, registrations, maintenance, etc., are current.
  • Communicates with Director of Operations, Regional Managers, QA, Training Manager and HR Department all updates on corporate Safety Manual, published near misses, incident reports, and safety best practices; may communicate directly with regional employees when necessary.
  • Prepares reports to management that analyze the safety program and identify trends, problem areas, and compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Conducts quarterly inspections to ensure all project safety documentation is filed in the proper work packages.
  • Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding safety performance of each Region.
  • Communicates with management teams to direct and confirm compliance with all state, federal, local, and customer-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Completes and files all annual OSHA forms, including, but not limited to, 300 and 300A logs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
