About The Position

The Safety Manager at Brightview Senior Living leads the planning, implementation, and oversight of safety across our communities. This community facing role supports physical and environmental safety and emergency preparedness. Working through our I SPY Safety program, the Safety Manager collaborates with teams across Brightview to ensure compliance with OSHA and other fire and life safety regulations, delivering meaningful training, supporting emergency readiness, and ensuring a safe environment across our communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of fire and building code compliance, OSHA regulations, and other safety standards and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience in life safety, emergency management, or a related field, preferably in a senior living or healthcare environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to proactively identify and address safety hazards and trends.
  • Experience and proven results reducing accident and incident frequency by implementing effective safety programs, protocols and training.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in fire safety, emergency management, or related disciplines is a plus. Possesses Certified Healthcare Safety (Long Term Care) Designation (or will obtain within 18 months of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Successfully drive the reduction of Brightview’s Total Cost of Risk (TCOR) through effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on safety and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Drive the effectiveness of and outcomes of Brightview’s community QAPI/Safety Committees.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of tabletop resources for industry specific and general safety related scenarios, such as elopement events, fires, natural disasters, power outages, and other emergent risk events.
  • Complete regular risk assessments and loss trend root cause analyses to identify potential hazards and weaknesses in the safety procedures.
  • Organize and conduct both virtual and in person training sessions for home office and community teams on industry relevant safety procedures, protocols and best practices
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of Brightview’s I SPY safety programs and initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Regional Support Team Members to ensure that all community life safety and systems and equipment complies with relevant safety codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Participate and support relevant new community opening safety trainings and preparation for licensing.
  • Stay up to date with local, state, and federal regulations related to life and associate safety to ensure compliance with industry and other applicable state and federal regulations
  • Provide guidance and support to community teams prior to and during any planned or unannounced OSHA inspections.
