About The Position

The Safety Manager will perform daily management and oversight of the Project Occupational Safety & Health program.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain base access.
  • Submit to and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • EM 385-1-1 Certification.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety or equivalent.
  • Ability to maintain competency through 24 hours of formal safety and related coursework every four (4) years.
  • Detailed knowledge of Quality Control principles and the ability to translate these principles into practical and specific Quality Control Plans.
  • Be able to collect, collate, analyze, and compare actual work performance data with the contract requirements and be able to determine and implement specific courses of action to rectify non-conforming work.
  • Be able to constructively interact with associates, subordinates, support staff, and senior management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity in the past or three (3) years of experience if he/she possesses a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or safety and health degree.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily safety and health inspections and maintains a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, and estimated and actual dates of corrections.
  • Attaches safety inspection logs to the contractor's daily production report.
  • Conducts mishap investigations and completes required accident reports.
  • Reports mishaps, good catches, and near misses.
  • Maintains OSHA's Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Posts OSHA Form 300A at the work sites.
  • Maintains applicable safety reference materials.
  • Reviews the APP and AHAs for compliance and approves/enforces them.
  • Establishes a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
  • Ensures employee and subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
  • Maintains a list of hazardous chemicals on site.
  • Maintains a weekly list for review of high-hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevated work at heights, and is prepared to discuss details during management meetings.
  • Prepares required reports and analyses as required and/or directed by the senior leadership ensuring required documentation is maintained and submitted as contractually required.
  • Facilitates site safety orientation and indoctrination for all employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems.
  • Develops and maintains good subcontractor, vendor, and customer relations.
  • Maintains effective communication with senior corporate staff, supervisors, employees, and customers.
  • Ensures the contract standards for work order completion are met.
  • Presents yourself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
