About The Position

This assignment provides full-time, on-site safety oversight for a drywall and framing contractor supporting large-scale Switch data center construction projects in Reno, Nevada. The Safety Manager will play a critical field-based role, serving as the primary safety presence and ensuring safe work practices are consistently followed throughout framing, drywall, and interior build-out phases. This position requires a highly visible, hands-on safety leader who is actively engaged with crews and project leadership on a large, physically demanding job site.

Requirements

  • Drywall and framing experience required (most important qualification)
  • Proven construction safety management experience
  • One or more of the following required:
  • BCSP Credential (CHST, CSP, ASP, GSP, or equivalent)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
  • OSHA 500 with 3+ years of safety experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Data center construction experience strongly preferred
  • Bilingual skills are a plus, not required

Responsibilities

  • Safety oversight of drywall and metal/wood framing operations
  • Monitoring interior build-out and structural framing activities
  • Enforcement of fall protection, PPE, and housekeeping standards
  • Oversight of material handling, lift usage, and elevated work platforms
  • Field-based hazard identification and proactive risk mitigation
  • Incident investigation, documentation, and reporting
  • Daily interaction with craft workers, foremen, and site supervisors
  • Support of site-specific safety programs and client requirements
  • Monitoring workforce activity during peak staffing of up to 100 personnel
  • Maintain a consistent and highly visible on-site field presence
  • Serve as the "eyes and ears" of the project safety team
  • Identify, communicate, and assist in correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions
  • Lead daily toolbox talks and site safety meetings
  • Conduct job hazard analyses, safety orientations, and field coaching
  • Promote a strong, proactive, and accountable safety culture
  • Complete daily safety reports, inspections, and incident documentation
  • Partner with project management to support safety performance goals
  • Build trust and credibility with crews through hands-on leadership
