About The Position

This role supports field safety oversight for active construction work in Rapid City, SD. The Safety Manager will oversee high-hazard activities including pipe welding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work permitting, underground conduit installation, and daily JHA review and documentation. The client is seeking a strong, organized safety professional who can manage permits, document inspections thoroughly, and help ensure safe execution of work across the site.

Requirements

• EM 385-1-1 required
• 20-Hour Fall Protection Training required
• Strong experience with permits, inspections, and safety documentation required
• Must be highly organized and capable of maintaining accurate field records
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple permits and inspection records effectively
• Strong communication and field presence
• Ability to work independently and support project leadership on active construction sites
• Comprehensive understanding of construction safety practices related to welding, LOTO, hot work, underground utility work, permit systems, inspection documentation, and EM 385-1-1 compliance

Nice To Haves

• Prior construction safety experience supporting high-risk activities strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide field-level safety oversight for welding, underground conduit, and related construction activities
• Manage and review hot work permits, LOTO procedures, and JHAs
• Conduct daily safety inspections, field observations, and compliance monitoring
• Document inspections, findings, and corrective actions accurately and consistently
• Support project teams in maintaining compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA standards, and site-specific requirements
• Reinforce safe work practices and intervene when hazardous conditions or behaviors are observed
• Assist with safety reporting, documentation tracking, and ongoing permit management
