About The Position

This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and drive continuous improvement in safety practices, making a significant impact on our plant's operational health and safety. As an integral member of the Plant Management Team, you will support and advise site management on the Safety Management system. Your role will involve: Formulating a proactive local safety strategy that drives the plant towards sustainable, healthy, and safe operations. Developing a vision for safety , enhancing established programs, and implementing new ones within a collaborative team environment. Eliminating, preventing, or reducing the occurrence of safety, health, and medical issues . Facilitating the development and maintenance of a safety culture that aligns with Tyson Foods' goals and behaviors. Acting as a change agent to accelerate best practice sharing within the facility.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 3+ years of progressive experience in environment, safety, and sustainability management preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA hazard communications, accident investigation, and safety training methods.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices regarding safety and environmental approaches with PSM/RMP safety practices.
  • Computer Skills: Standard computer skills.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Special Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the safety programs for the site.
  • Recommend the design and implementation of new programs to minimize company losses due to accidents.
  • Measure the effectiveness of programs .
  • Lead compliance with OSHA regulations and the OSHA Tyson Foods Ergonomic program.
  • Inspect machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Maintain OSHA files and support documents .
  • Accompany OSHA inspectors on plant inspections.
  • Regularly inspect and review plant operations to ensure compliance with all permits, operations, and equipment with state and federal regulations.
  • Report potential violations and recommend corrections as needed.
  • Analyze accident statistics to establish necessary precautions and changes for plant safety.
  • Communicate safety policy and procedure changes to management personnel.
  • Ensure all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices are reviewed annually or as required by changes in practices or regulations and rolled out in a timely manner.
  • Conduct safety inspections and procedural audits in the field, taking immediate corrective action if required.
  • Review all safety areas to determine causes, identify corrective actions, and conduct training in areas such as ergonomics, emergency response, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment.
  • Investigate all safety-related incidents , review incident reports, and complete necessary reports for insurance carriers, risk management systems, and corporate safety offices.
