As a Safety Manager for a utility-scale solar electrical subcontractor, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. You will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and workers to promote a culture of safety and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. For this particular position, OSHA 500 or CHST is required.

  • Act as a safety subject matter expert to help implement, promote, and verify compliance with health and safety requirements within utility-scale solar projects.
  • Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures, ensuring they are followed by all employees and subcontractors.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Design and deliver safety training programs, including new hire orientation, emergency preparedness, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Investigate and report on job site accidents and injuries, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrences.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of safety activities, including inspection reports, training logs, and incident reports.
  • Develop and implement emergency action plans, including traffic control and fire protection plans.
  • Bachelor's degree in health and safety, risk management, construction management, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience also considered in lieu of degree.
  • Proven experience (at least 5 years) as a safety manager or in a similar role, preferably in solar or electrical construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHA requirements.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills; ability to conduct thorough investigations and write detailed reports.
  • Relevant certifications such as OSHA 510, OSHA 500, or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST). NFPA 70E may be required for some sites.
