About The Position

The Safety Manager will oversee and support underground utility construction operations, including trenching and excavation activities. This role is primarily office-based with periodic travel to local job sites to conduct safety audits, inspections, and training. When performing audits, the standard expectation is up to three site visits per day across local projects. This position also provides leadership and oversight for field safety personnel.

Requirements

OSHA 500
3-5 years of experience in a safety management role
Underground utility, trenching, and excavation safety experience
Experience delivering OSHA 30 and other safety training
Strong customer service and leadership skills
Patience and the ability to drive buy‑in to safety culture

Responsibilities

Conduct site safety visits and audits on underground utility and excavation projects
Review site procedures and ensure compliance with safety policies
Verify proper PPE usage and adherence to JHAs and AHAs
Identify safety deficiencies and coach crews on corrective actions
Deliver OSHA 30 training and other safety training as needed
Travel to job sites to perform inspections and field observations
Support trenching, excavation, and underground utility operations
Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture and team buy‑in
Communicate safety findings with supervisors and project leadership
Provide oversight and guidance to 3-4 Safety Field Representatives
Support crews ranging from 4-30 workers per site
