About The Position

The Safety Manager is responsible for leading and managing the site’s safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and all applicable federal, state, and local safety requirements. This role drives a proactive safety culture focused on injury prevention, risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement to achieve the facility goal of zero injuries.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in EHS or related field required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of EHS experience with increasing scope and responsibility, preferably in a manufacturing facility.
  • Extensive working knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations and policies
  • ISO 9001:2015 experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation and training skills
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow complex requests, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Regular and reliable attendance. Required to be on-site.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions of the position, which includes prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing and walking, climbing stairs and 10-foot ladder, performing repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds, conducting inspections and carrying equipment used for inspections, and have average agility and dexterity. While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works indoors and outdoors and must be able to tolerate working in changing weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to loud.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the site safety program to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies, while establishing and maintaining initiatives that drive the facility goal of zero injuries.
  • Develop, implement, and update safety policies, procedures, and training programs, including Injury Prevention and PPE programs.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and exposure monitoring to identify and eliminate workplace hazards.
  • Oversee confined space entry, rescue procedures, and site emergency response team readiness.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for workplace accidents, injuries, and near misses. Lead prompt and thorough investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Support HR throughout the work comp claims process, monitor the status of injured employees, and coordinate return-to-work and light-duty programs to support a safe and timely recovery.
  • Manage OSHA 300 logs and required safety reporting documentation.
  • Conduct safety orientation for new employees and contractors and ensure ongoing required safety training is completed.
  • Lead the Safety Committee, facilitate regular meetings, track employee feedback, and implement corrective actions (iCARs) resulting from identified safety concerns.
  • Track and report safety metrics to site leadership and communicate improvement initiatives.
  • Function as the primary contact for all local, state, and federal safety-related inspectors.
  • Maintain safety equipment and PPE inventories to ensure availability and compliance.
  • Provide safety support to Ethox TX facility in Pasadena, TX (up to 10% travel).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
