Crawford Electric Supply is seeking a Safety Manager to define, write, communicate, and continuously improve the company's safety program. This role involves establishing strong working relationships with management and associates to ensure safety compliance across multiple operational locations in the Central South USA region (TX, OK, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, FL). The Safety Manager will operate effectively in a matrixed environment, driving safety performance and accountability across multiple operational locations without direct or hierarchical authority, collaborating with branch and warehouse leadership to influence outcomes, ensure compliance, and implement safety initiatives.   • Working knowledge of FMSCA/DOT, OSHA, and Minnesota AWAIR.
  • Strong PC skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point), Email & Internet Use.
  • Ability to interpret government regulations and maintain compliance.
  • Understanding of Workers Comp laws, FMLA, and ADA.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and training/presentation skills including familiarity with reporting, presentation, and file management software.
  • Ability to read and analyze information.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and well organized.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and interact collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively work with, coach and influence managers and associates to improve safety.
  • Ability to explain information to a wide range of audiences.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent safety/compliance experience.
  • At least 5 years progressive safety and compliance experience.
  • Experience in injury and accident reporting.
  • Experience in HAZCOM training, tracking, and reporting.
  • Experience in creating and implementing Workplace Safety Programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in OSHA or equivalent program preferred.
  • Experience in electrical distribution warehousing and logistics preferred.
  • Experience with DOT Fleet Safety and Compliance a plus

Responsibilities

  • Define, write, communicate and work to continuously improve Crawford’s safety program by establishing strong working relationships with management and associates that will ensure safety compliance.
  • Operate effectively in a matrixed environment, driving safety performance and accountability across multiple operational locations without direct or hierarchical authority.
  • Collaborate with branch and warehouse leadership to influence outcomes, ensure compliance, and implement safety initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver safety training for drivers, warehouse, and office associates designed to reduce workplace injuries.
  • Partner and coach, all managers to support and reinforce a safe work environment and safe work practices.
  • Create prescriptive education designed to reduce injuries and days away from work.
  • Provide an annual safety report to the Crawford Exec Team that includes initiatives and location specific safety performance.
  • Function as corporate point of contact for accident reporting.
  • Assist with the investigation of accidents, associate injuries, incidents and near misses to understand and recommend workplace safety improvements.
  • Partner closely with Human Resources on workers compensation claims and associate accidents when injury occurs.
  • Provide guidance to other safety designates and ensure regular meetings are held and documented and that regular facility safety inspections are conducted.
  • Coordinate and document the activities of all safety committees including CDC, RDC and Transportation groups.
  • Oversee completion of periodic safety inspections and audits of all Crawford Electric locations to identify unsafe conditions or practices, monitor safety programs are being followed and compliance records are in place.
  • Make recommendations and facilitate the implementation of effective measures to eliminate hazards and bring locations into safety compliance.
  • Manage workers compensation claims with timely reporting and a focus on minimizing lost time.
  • Work with third party administrators in a timely fashion while partnering with the Human Resources team.
  • Provide ongoing information to Sonepar’s Senior Risk Manager on workers compensation vendor and claims.
  • Complete quarterly and annual OSHA reporting as required by law.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate directives and initiatives.
  • Create strategies to consistently improve TRIR, DART, and DAFW cases.
  • Actively participate in meetings and collaborations with Sonepar USA Central Region Safety Team.
  • Manage the adherence of OSHA Power Industrial Truck requirements companywide.
  • Support training of new associates along with maintain accurate recordkeeping of training for all operators.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Sonepar to provide organizational safety education and compliance management through the learning management system.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and pending changes to local, state, and federal safety regulations and programs.
  • Develop and publish locally accurate evacuation and building security plans.
  • Collaborate and support the Facility Manager in building security including card access and video surveillance.
  • Serve as the site contact for all agency audits.
  • Participates in and follows all Crawford policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
