Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required- safety emphasis preferred
  • 5 years of experience leading safety in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • A passion for safety that motivates others to want to succeed
  • Proven leadership qualities in managing teams, getting work done through others, meeting timelines, and holding yourself accountable for safety results
  • The ability to complete safety actions even when you have to rely on others to help complete those actions
  • A history of motivating individuals and teams to rally around safety KPI's and complete upstream actions to promote world class safety
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks. Strong technical knowledge of regulatory programs in safety
  • Responsible for safety oversight of all shift operations and the ability to visit those shifts on a frequency basis

Responsibilities

  • Create the "Safest" Company in the World through continuous improvement, ownership, member engagement, and drive
  • Lead the facility safety effort through the creation, implementation, and direction of processes and programs to meet operational needs while maintaining and managing safety compliance to world class safety standards
  • Lead, design and implement environmental management systems to monitor and mitigate the environmental impact of the organization's activities and ensure all organizational processes meet the required standards
  • Oversee adherence to safety policies performing regular audits and addressing instances of non-compliance; Compile detailed and comprehensive reports and maintain meticulous records as mandated by law
  • Serves as the emergency response coordinator and works in conjunction with emergency services to conduct a thorough investigation of incidents to determine the root causes and preventive measures
  • Facilitate Safety education and training throughout the membership and during meetings making safety part of day-to-day activities, while inserting safety into every related process of our business
  • Lead efforts to create and maintain a safety culture that leverages member ownership, involvement, and personal accountability
  • Take an active role in the Corporate Safety Leadership team and facilitate the sharing of ideas between facilities at the corporate level (incorporate Johnsonville programs into your facilities ;practices)
  • Actively participate as a member of the ;Core Team
  • Facilitate the Safety Team to lead and ensure compliance with all governmental safety regulations, procedures, guidelines and best practices
  • Develop and lead efforts on the attainment of all safety key performance indicators
  • Lead safety compliance evaluations for facility specific requirements
  • Manage Workers Compensation Claims and Property Insurance recommendations
  • Actively participate in continuous learning to grow knowledge and skills through classes, webcasts/seminars, OSHA compliance trainings
