About The Position

R+L Carriers has an immediate opportunity for a Regional Safety Manager at our Ypsilanti, MI Service Center. Click here to learn more about our employee resorts R+L Carriers - Women in Trucking Company Culture Reporting to the Director of Safety, the Safety Manager, North Central Region is responsible for leading the coordination and execution of safety and compliance initiatives across the assigned region. This role includes assessing the operational needs of individual service centers, developing and implementing targeted intervention strategies, and delivering effective, sustainable solutions. The successful candidate must also be available to respond to urgent matters on a 24/7 basis, as required. Additional responsibilities include regulatory research, continuous professional development, policy support, and audit execution. The role also requires the facilitation of both individual and group training sessions, as well as the leadership of safety meetings. Success in this position demands a high degree of professionalism, sound judgment, and strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate service center performance is essential to supporting continuous improvement across the region.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL Class A with H, N & T, or T and X endorsement(s)
  • Minimum three (3) years of CMV driving experience; City and Linehaul experience preferred
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and email
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attendance record over the past 24 months
  • No corrective action or disciplinary action within the past 24 months
  • Clear three (3)-year MVR record

Nice To Haves

  • Safety Management experience
  • Experience serving on an Accident Review Board and/or Safety Committee
  • Safety coaching experience
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Experience in training facilitation, auditing, or consultation
