About The Position
We are a Food Manufacturing Company located in Los Angeles, seeking a dedicated Safety Manager to oversee our in-house safety program and support our Workers' Compensation efforts. The primary purpose of this role is to minimize all job-related accidents and ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Under limited supervision, the Safety Manager will be responsible for spreading safety (OSHA) awareness, promoting occupational health, and eliminating hazardous activities by monitoring operations and developing and emphasizing safety policies. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in all OSHA regulations, diligent, analytical, and sensitive to potential dangers in the workplace. In this role, you will investigate accidents to determine their root causes and review reports of injuries, property damage, and non-employee accidents. You will also participate in regular safety audits to identify and correct potential health and safety hazards, evaluate the effectiveness of the existing safety program, and prepare and analyze reports on safety performance. Additionally, you will advise on provisions to minimize safety risks and ensure that safety measures are being fulfilled in day-to-day operations. The Safety Manager will develop and enforce OSHA policies, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, directives, standards, and codes related to employee safety and health. This includes updating the OSHA 300 Log, organizing and conducting OSHA training plans, and acting as a liaison between insurance carriers, state and federal agencies, and emergency services regarding safety and health matters. The working conditions involve regular exposure to a refrigerated food processing plant, where temperatures can drop as low as 34 degrees Fahrenheit, necessitating the use of warm attire and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
