About The Position

The Safety Manager will oversee health, safety, and environmental (HSE) initiatives for a construction and land clearing company in Harwinton, CT. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure compliance with safety regulations and to support civil and drilling operations across the northeast. The position involves conducting trainings, managing safety protocols, and collaborating with project teams to foster a safe working environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field
• 5+ years of experience in a construction safety role
• Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Experience in ROW construction, tree clearing, and/or pipeline construction industry is highly desired
• Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to different types of audiences
• Competent in conflict and crisis management
• Proven ability to lead without authority
• Physical ability to walk at least one mile in rugged, sloped terrain and lift 35 pounds unassisted
• Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

• Conduct Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) trainings and meetings.
• Conduct worksite HSE job site observations to ensure compliance with 29 CFR 1910 & 1926 regulations and company/project requirements, using HSE coaching techniques to correct deficiencies.
• Investigate and analyze hazardous conditions, close calls, and incidents, developing lessons learned and reports.
• Lead/Model/Coach proper techniques for conducting Job Safety Analysis (JSA) Crew Meetings.
• Develop task/situation-specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and JSA documents.
• Communicate weekly schedule and activities to the Safety and Health program Director and Project Management.
• Assist in the development of company Policies and Procedures as needed.
• Set up and maintain HSE administrative files.
• Coach and develop Operations and HSE staff.
• Travel required based on project locations and requirements.
