About The Position

The Safety Manager II is a seasoned professional level position within the safety structure of ESCO. This position is best described as a contributing resource for internal safety oversight, training, and delivery. Work executed will be with a safety team. This position requires acquisition and knowledge of industrial safety practices and guidelines. Leadership and mentorship of others may be required of this role.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree program in occupational safety or related discipline from an accredited college, technical school, or university and three years or more of related work or industry experience; or A combination of equivalent education and or experience will be considered with solid evidence of success.
  • Demonstrated understanding of general construction principles and general industry safety knowledge.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated to be highly proficient with computer technologies including but not limited to, Windows Operating Systems, and the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Self-starter that exhibits a high level of initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to take on and complete multiple project assignments quickly and efficiently.
  • Develops meaningful relationships to build trust.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adapts behavior to changing circumstances.

  • Accommodate up to 90% of daily travel for services at both in and out-of-town facilities. Accommodate up to 50% of overnight travel for services at out-of-town client facilities. The amount of travel is largely dependent upon project scope, schedule, and assigned tasks.

  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety in the Workplace).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct employee training on applicable OSHA standards and other safety topics as needed. This will include weekly onsite safety meetings.
  • Inspect job site safe work practices and OSHA compliance.
  • Act as dedicated jobsite safety supervisor as required.
  • Develop, draft, and enforce company safety policies and procedures, including corrective action.
  • Meet with clients and their safety representatives.
  • Report and investigate employee injury cases, unplanned shutdowns, automobile incidents, property damage, etc.
  • Coordinate care for injured employees. Work with insurance companies regarding losses.
  • Develop and maintain the chemical inventory records for the Hazard Communication Standard (1910.1200).
  • Inspect and verify all equipment has passed the AG equipment inspection process (assured grounding).
  • Monitor and maintain the proper test intervals for various equipment.
  • Coordinate annual inspections and reporting of various facility systems with local authorities and their inspectors.
  • Audit weekly safety meetings.
  • Coordinate proper pre-employment screenings (substance abuse and criminal background verification) collectively with human resources department.
  • Complete annual continuing education as required.
  • Develop, train, and maintain emergency response and disaster recovery plan.
  • Utilize, support, and enhance ESCO’s standards and best practices.
  • Understand and follow all safety, conduct, and policy requirements established by ESCO and clients.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or deemed necessary by management.
