About The Position

To assist and advise the Assistant Manager of Safety or Program Manager with the implementation of the Kia Georgia’s Safety and incident prevention measures to comply with corporate, local, state, and federal related safety regulation, directives, and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Ergonomics, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of progressive experience in the safety field in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the automotive industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in safety committee activities, incident investigation/problem solving, tool & equipment specification, fire and security.

  • NSC advanced safety certificate.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Certified Ergonomics Technologist or Professional (CET / CEP).
  • Occupational Safety and Health Technologist (OSHT).
  • Industrial Hygiene certification by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene or the ability to become certified.
  • Emergency response and Incident Commander training.

Responsibilities

  • Support Assistant Manager in appropriate loss control & accident prevention countermeasures to comply with Kia Georgia mission & objectives.
  • Develop, modify & facilitate delivery of Kia Georgia Safety Orientation to contractors, suppliers, vendors, & others as required, to ensure understanding of Kia Georgia policies and procedures.
  • Develops content and facilitates implementation of various Kia Georgia safety training programs including but not limited to: Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communication, Electrical Safety, Robotics, PPE, Fall Prevention, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Overhead Crane Safety, Rigging, and others.
  • Conduct equipment safety reviews, implements & performs acceptance inspection (Buy-Off) procedure. Support the shop implementation of the Management of Change Process (MOC).
  • Conduct periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, & working conditions to ensure conformance to appropriate safety & health standards & regulations.
  • Investigate incidents & working conditions, compiling data, providing remedial actions; perform root cause analysis & make recommendations to achieve loss prevention.
  • Assist Shop Leadership & Safety Committees with the evaluation of perceived safety issues, Team Member’s safety suggestions & concerns. Work with AM to develop & implement corrective measures.
  • Implements the Kia Georgia construction safety programs for modifications & expansion projects & processes through coordination with Kia Georgia team members & their suppliers & contractors utilizing the Management of Change (MOC) process for all new equipment installations and existing equipment modifications from initial concept through buy-off and release for production.
  • Assist the Kia Georgia emergency response coordinator in emergency response operations & training drills during normal facility operation & on call 24-hour basis. Initiate Emergency Action Plan, provide guidance & direction.
  • Ensure compliance by helping the development & conducting as directed appropriate safety training to maintain corporate, state, local & federal regulations, directives & policies.
  • Assist in overseeing all plant programs and activities for compliance with all safety guidelines and regulations. Assist with Kia Georgia’s ISO 45001 Program as needed.
  • Ensure that all chemical requisitions are reviewed, approved, and entered in Sphera System.
  • Perform all duties of Sr. Safety Engineer/Specialist as assigned by departmental leadership.
  • Must be able to work any shift in all shops.
