About The Position

Weyerhaeuser’s Health and Safety team is seeking a dynamic professional who is passionate about workplace health and safety, communicates clearly, and thrives in collaborative environments. This role requires strong technical knowledge of health and safety regulations, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a broader team. Experience in wood products manufacturing or a related industry is preferred. Our Health and Safety team is dedicated to eliminating injuries and continuously strengthening the company’s safety programs and performance. We provide strategic guidance to leaders and support the execution of initiatives that enhance safety across operations. This full time position reports to the Senior Health & Safety Manager and will require travel—up to 50%25—primarily within the Northwest Region (WA and OR).

Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 50%25 (or more at times)
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related scientific discipline
  • 5-8 years of related health and safety experience

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation preferred, or actively working toward certification
  • Strong team orientation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter capable of working independently in remote regions while staying aligned with a nationwide team
  • Highly detail-oriented and focused on achieving results
  • Flexible and adaptable, with an understanding that the role will require significant travel at times

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical safety support to NW Region operations, including:
  • Guiding the development and tracking of site-specific, risk-based safety plans
  • Conducting periodic site safety inspections
  • Leading, participating in, and supporting serious incident investigations and related reporting
  • Facilitating safety training (e.g., incident investigation, safety leadership, hazard and risk recognition/assessment)
  • Partnering with the Regional Manufacturing VP to identify high-risk sites or those requiring specialized or increased safety support to resolve critical safety issues
  • Mentor and develop safety leaders across the company:
  • Coach site safety managers, site managers, and superintendent-level leaders on health and safety practices
  • Support HR in identifying, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new site safety managers
  • Assess performance and development opportunities for site safety managers
  • Support governance and compliance activities:
  • Lead or participate in corporate safety audits
  • Review and approve corrective actions to ensure timely and effective closure
  • Ensure accurate classification and recording of injuries and illnesses
  • Maintain and implement company safety processes, including:
  • Audits
  • Standards
  • Metrics
  • Risk assessments
  • Incident reporting systems
  • Training programs
  • Additional responsibilities:
  • Provide safety support to other company sites within the region as needed
  • Collaborate with other health and safety liaisons to enhance companywide processes and systems

Benefits

  • Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $99,000 to $148,200 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10%25 of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

  • Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
