About The Position

The Safety Intern will be responsible for conducting safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards in the manufacturing process. The intern will assist with incident tracking and reporting, ensuring proper documentation of workplace accidents and near-misses. Additionally, the intern will help ensure that the facility adheres to relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and will assist in preparing reports and documentation for regulatory audits, inspections, and certifications such as ISO 14001, OSHA, and LEED. The intern will track EHSS performance metrics and assist in reporting progress on sustainability goals, as well as collect, analyze, and report on data related to safety incidents, waste reduction, energy efficiency, and water use. Maintaining records of safety inspections, corrective actions, and compliance with local regulations will also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science/Studies, or a similar field.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards in the manufacturing process.
  • Help with incident tracking and reporting, ensuring proper documentation of workplace accidents and near-misses.
  • Assist in ensuring that the facility adheres to relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Help prepare reports and documentation for regulatory audits, inspections, and certifications (e.g., ISO 14001, OSHA, LEED).
  • Track EHSS performance metrics and assist in reporting progress on sustainability goals.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on data related to safety incidents, waste reduction, energy efficiency, and water use.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, corrective actions, and compliance with local regulations.
  • Assist in conducting a full safety audit across the manufacturing facility, identifying any potential risks, and proposing solutions to mitigate them.
  • Conduct a thorough review of current safety equipment and PPE (personal protective equipment) used by employees.
  • Evaluate the existing emergency response plan and help develop improvements, including clear evacuation procedures, fire safety, or accident response protocols.
  • Conduct an assessment of workstations and employee movements to ensure that ergonomic practices are in place and minimize the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.
