About The Position

Greiner Industries is seeking a skilled Safety Internship who will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing workplace environments to develop and implement programs that prevent injury, illness, and unsafe conditions. This role involves inspecting facilities, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and standards, advising safety procedures, and promoting a culture of health and safety across the organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field
  • 0–2 years experience of safety administration experience in fabrication/manufacturing industry.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office suite.
  • Negative result on pre-employment and all active employment drug screens when required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and perform computer-based tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to retrieve and file documents from storage areas as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety presence on production floors to identify and help correct safety issues and behaviors
  • Assist with instructing training sessions
  • Assist with verification that SOPs and work instructions are communicated and followed
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Develop and maintain health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards.
  • Collect and analyze environmental and workplace samples for hazardous conditions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation of safety assessments, findings, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, management, and healthcare professionals to design solutions for health or safety challenges.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of employee safety training programs.
  • Regular use of Microsoft Office software, spreadsheet creation and maintenance for data management.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Adhere to federal, state and local laws.
  • Perform work safely, maintain a clean and organized work area, comply with and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, customers, vendors and others in a courteous, respectful and professional manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
