Keystone Engineering Inc. is seeking a Contract Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) Engineer for an onsite position in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This role is essential for evaluating instrumentation recommendations derived from HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) and LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis) studies, and developing actionable plans for both permanent and interim mitigation projects. The engineer will be responsible for creating SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems) and IPL (Independent Protection Layer) implementation plans that stem from these studies, ensuring that all necessary documentation such as P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), loop sheets, wiring diagrams, and cause & effect matrices are updated accordingly. In addition to the technical responsibilities, the SIS Engineer will manage Management of Change (MOC) processes to implement instrumentation projects identified through HAZOP/LOPA studies. They will also submit engineering work requests (EWR) for permanent mitigation projects that require capital funding. Participation in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) and assisting in the rationalization of recommendations is also a key function of this role. The ideal candidate will possess strong team-building skills, enabling them to effectively collaborate across organizational lines and share best practices with the corporate SIS technical team. This position is full-time and contract-based, with occasional travel requirements and a sedentary office work environment.
